MOS 12F, Crane Operator Duty Descriptions

In 2004, the Engineer MOS changed from CMF 12 to CMF 21. In 2009, the Engineer MOS changed again, from CMF 21 to CMF 12.

Crane Operator
Performs as crane operator for the 321st Engineer Company; installs and removes crane booms, extensions and hook blocks; positions crane outrigger assemblies and maneuvers in response to hand signals; installs, rigs and removes crane attachments; performs clamshell, dragline, wrecking ball, pile driving, and hook block operations; determines safe lifting capacities; assists in performance of combat engineer missions; operates cranes with related attachments; directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment.




12F Engineering Supervisor
Serves as a crane operator for the 315th Engineer Battalion Vertical Construction Company (VCC); inspects construction and training activities; supervises performance of combat engineering missions; operates crawler and truck mounted cranes and crane shovels; supervises general engineering activities related to construction and utility operations; assists engineering officer in construction planning, scheduling, and material estimating; assists in the preparation of operation orders, standing operating procedures, and contingency plans.




Crane Operator
Serves as senior C4 crane operator for the 659th Maintenance Company, 264th Maintenance Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade; operates cranes and ancillary equipment; coordinates with local and military civil engineers to determine work and environmental constraints; calculates lifting limits; analyzes risks and mitigates safety concerns; moves and tranfers cargo containers; assists in combat engineer missions; operates construction equipment; performs user level maintenance.




Crane Operator
Operates crawler and truck mounted cranes and crane shovels; performs clamshell, dragline, wrecking ball, pile driving, and hook block operations; determines safe lifting capacities; installs and removes crane booms, extensions and hook blocks; installs, rigs, and removes crane attachments; positions crane outrigger assemblies and maneuvers as required; operates cranes with related attachments; directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment.
