MOS 15W UAV Operator Duty Descriptions

Team Leader for TUAS Platoon Military Intelligence Company (MICO)
Serves as Team Leader for TUAS Platoon Military Intelligence Company (MICO) assigned to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team; responsible for the accountability, leadership, health, welfare, and safety of three Soldiers; supervises flight operations, forward site emplacement/displacement, maintenance, and the accountability of over 2.5 million dollars worth of equipment which includes one Ground Control Station (GCS), one Ground Data Terminal (GDT), and one HMMWV.


Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Team Leader
Serves as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Team Leader for the Army's Quick Reaction Capability One - Replacement Two (QRC1-R2) Company deployed in a combat theater directly providing Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting and Aquisition requirements for US and coalition forces; coordinates with Division staff elements for mission tasking and dissemination; coordinates with Air Traffic Contoll (ATC) for flight clearance and airspace during operation New Dawn (OND) and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; responsible for the training, health and welfare of three Soldiers; responsible for conducting daily flight operations.


15W Standardization Operator
Standardization Operator in a Tactical Unmanned Aerial System Platoon (TUAS), responsible for all TUAV flight and maintenance training for # Soldiers; responsible for performing flight operations within applicable regulations; ensures all training is conducted with emphasis on zero soldier injury and zero equipment failure due to human error; manages the Commander's Aircrew Training Program (ATP); ensures all flight and training records are up to date; Team Leader for Flight Operations.


15W Duty Description
Operates the UAS and Ground Control Station(GCS) systems as well as mission planning, launching, remote piloting and recovering the aerial system; prepares and conducts air reconnaissance missions operating the sensor/payload in Electro Optical (EO) or Infrared (IR) for target identification; performs pre-flight checks, directs site selection of GCS and Mission Planning Section (MPS); controls the UAS platform as a Mission Coordinator; supervises mission planning using maps, terrain studies, and intelligence reports; responsible for the health, welfare, morale, training, readiness and professional development of # Soldiers and accountable for equipment worth over two million dollars.


Unmanned Aerial Systems Operator SL:2/3
Responsible for the technical oversight of flight operations; prepares and conducts air reconnaissance missions by operating the sensor/payload for target detection; plans and analyzes flightline emplacement and displacement; supervises and assists in the deployment of the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) in all aspects; launches and recovers the air vehicle, performs pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures; assists in the coordination and deconfliction of airspace and utilization of training areas.
