Duty Descriptions

25C3O/Radio Supervisor
Supervises radio teams in the installation, operation and maintenance of single channel High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and special communication systems such as the Special Operations Communications Assemblage (SOCA); supervises radio teams in the installation of the aforementioned radios and associated antennas; responsible for supervising the control and use of Signal Operating Instructions (SOI) and implementation of Communications Security (COMSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), and physical security policies.


Senior Radio Telephone Operator (SR RATELO)
Serves as the senior radio telephone operator of an infantry company with an assigned strength of over 130 Soldiers; maintains the critical link between the company and battalion leadership; receives, processes, disseminates, and tracks critical information in a timely and accurate manner; records all actions of the company; updates charts and overlays; takes spot reports, messages, and relays messages; responsible for taking immediate action upon receipt of Commander's Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) or Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI).


Radio Operator
Performs duties as Radio Operator; tests, maintains, and keeps all radios operational at all times; interfaces with maintenance; maintains situational awareness; maintains constant, secure communication with assigned units and distant ends; monitors all radio traffic around the clock; enforces radio discipline; records all incoming and outgoing transmissions; upchannels changes and updates with urgency; keeps supported units apprised of current events, changes and impending changes; integrates with TOC and performs other duties as assigned.


Radio Telephone Operator (RTO)
Serves as the Radio Telephone Operator of a deployed Combat Sustainment Support Battalion with an assigned strength of over 1,400 Soldiers in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom VI; maintains the critical link between the companies and battalion leadership; receives processes, disseminates and tracks critical information in a timely and accurate manner; records all actions of the staff using a DA Form 1594 (Staff Journal); updates charts and overlays; takes spot reports, messages and relays messages; responsible for taking immediate action upon receipt of Commanders Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) or Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI).
