Radio Operator/Maintainer

Outstanding achievement as Radio Operator/Maintainer, Tactical Communications Maintenance Shop, Communications Directorate, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. During this period, Staff Sergeant Michael S. Troup was selected, due to his experience and reliability, to deploy to Camp Simba, Manda Bay, Kenya, where he spent over 20 hours troubleshooting the Armed Forces Network and rebuilding over 200 feet of cable to restore transmissions and enhance camp morale. Additionally, he rebuilt and reinstalled the Wireless Point to Point Link system between the Communications Directorate and the Camp Lemonnier Ammunition Supply Point. Finally, before he redeployed, he, and two other service members from the Radio Maintenance shop, taught five senior Navy Petty Officers on the proper use, capabilities and maintenance of the system. Sergeant Troup's performance during this period brings great credit upon himself, his unit, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa and the United States Army.




Radio Operator/Maintainer

Outstanding achievement as Radio Operator/Maintainer Tactical Communications Maintenance Shop, Operations Section, Communications Directorate, Combined Joint Task Force-HOA from XXXXXXXX to XXXXX XXXXX. During this period, Staff Sergeant Michael S. Troup was selected as the primary radio operator at the team house in Tadjoura, Djibouti, where he operated and maintained the single channel radios and the Secure and Non-Secure Access Point terminal in support to the 407th Civil Affairs team. In addition, he accompanied two missions with the Civil Affairs team to build and improve local relationships in Tadjoura. Finally, during an assist visit with Navy Coastal Riverine Squadron ONE, he identified and repaired communications equipment deficiencies which expanded the range of four patrol craft and ensured mission readiness to protect high value assets from piracy. Sergeant Troup's performance during this period brings great credit upon himself, his unit, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa and the United States Army.




Radio Transmission Operator

Sergeant Miller's outstanding professional skill and ability to adjust to the mission with very little instruction was key to the Movement and Maneuver section's success during the War Fighter exercise during Annual Training. He was assigned to the section on the first day of the live mission without previous training or preparation but learned our tasks and responsibilities and quickly became so indispensable that he frequently carried the section's responsibilities single-handedly.




Communications Team Chief

Trained soldiers and NCOs from 82 CAB and 5/2 Striker Bde on radio system operation, significantly enhanced combat readiness significantly.
