Sergeant Elliot distinguished himself while assigned to the 1119th Backfill Company through clear and sincere dedication to duty, exceptional critical thinking, and a genuine desire to serve Soldiers in support of the organizational mission. He readily assumed duties that directly enhanced company and battalion operations and directly contributed to mission accomplishment. SGT Elliot's experience and expertise are unparalleled among his peers. SGT Elliot revived and executed training to fill a longstanding deficiency. His efforts directly resulted in numerous training events to include an obstacle course, a paintball "shoot, move, communicate" event, three live fire marksmanship ranges, MOS skill sustainment training, and quarterly CPR classes. He is responsible for the development of a platoon training schedule which engaged more than 50 Soldiers in providing instructional classes.


Meritorious Leadership while assigned to the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters Commandants Office. SGT Helis served as the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters Assistant Commandant, where he displayed qualities of an outstanding leader. This leadership has had a positive and lasting impact on the soldiers in his section. During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Sergeant Helis contributed to the effectiveness and success of the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters Commandants Section. SGT Helis' actions are an exemplary example to all soldiers and bring great credit upon himself, the 4th Infantry Divsion and the US Army.


This citation is presented to SSG Lord, United States Army, who distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious service in support of military operations against terrorist aggression in the Republic of Afghanistan. During this period, he astutely surmounted extremely adverse conditions to obtain consistently superior results. Through diligence and determination, he accomplished every task quickly and efficiently. His unrelenting loyalty, initiative, and perseverance brought him wide acclaim and inspired his peers and subordinates to strive for maximum achievement. Selflessly working long and arduous hours, he has contributed greatly to the success of the multinational effort. His commendable performance was in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service and reflects credit upon himself and the United States Army.
