21H Construction Supervisor Duty Descriptions

In 2004, the MOS changed from 12H to 21H. In 2009, the MOS changed again, from 21H to 12H.

21H Supervisor
Supervises a Construction Platoon of 32 Soldiers on various projects; sustains mission readiness of 14 pieces of equipment and engineer tools valued at over $2,000,000; interprets constructions drawings; estimates material, time, equipment and labor requirements; supervises construction of wood frame, concrete, masonry, and prefabricated structures; supervises the installation and repair of utility systems; ensures structure compliance with specifications; directs operator maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.


21H40 Battalion liaison
Assigned as the Battalion liaison for electrical, carpenter, and plumbing engineers ordering supplies; is also responsible for the supervision, training, welfare, and morale of a 8 man team in the S4 Section. Soldier is also responsible for maintaining accountability, maintenance and safe operation of various types of equipment such as a LMTV and HMMWV. Soldier also maintains various sets, kits and outfits all totaling more than $250,000.


Platoon Sergeant of Vertical Construction Platoon
Serves as a Platoon Sergeant of a Vertical Construction platoon comprised of Plumbers, Electricians, and Carpentry/Masonry Engineers; responsible for the health, welfare, morale, discipline, and performance of the platoon; designs network flow diagrams using the critical path method and coordinates work activities of supporting units; provides supervision of all construction projects; inspects subordinate elements to ensure compliance with specifications; plans and organizes training scenarios.


Squad Leader in a Engineer Support Company (ESC)
Supervises a 14 Soldier squad consisting of carpentry and masonry specialists, plumbers, and electricians; performs a variety of construction tasks to include Bill of Material (BOM), interpreting blueprints, man-power requirements, and directing construction assets; responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and safe operation of one HMMWV (M1151), one FMTV (M1083), one FMTV 10-ton dump M1157, two 2KW generators, one three KW generator and various tool sets, kits and outfits.


Senior planner for U.S. Army South's Engineer Directorate
Senior planner for all construction projects in Support of U.S. Army South and U.S. Southern Command exercises in Central America; plans and synchronizes engineer support and operations; develops Humanitarian Civic Assistance projects and identifies exercise related construction requirements; prepares engineer cost estimates; coordinates with U.S. Army South staff and supporting commands to ensure compliance with engineer, environmental and construction policies and procedures.
