Field Sanitation Team (FST) Awards

Specialist Smith demonstrated extraordinary steadfastness and discipline by being the only qualified field sanitation worker in the company. On a daily basis, Specialist Smith reported for duty two to three hours earlier than everyone else in the platoon to secure, clean, fill and deliver the water buffalo so the company had sufficient potable water at training events. Additionally, during the Law Enforcement Field Exercise, Specialist Smith devoted an extra two hours during the day to regularly test the pH scale of the water to ensure it was safe for consumption. Without Specialist Smith's around-the-clock attention to detail, the water could have been too acidic or alkaline, threatening the safety of Soldiers and the mission. Specialist Smith's determination, discipline, and reliability are an example of what Soldiers should strive to be.
