As Squad Leader, Asymmetric Warfare Group. On July 12, 2015 Sergeant Jenkins performed with great judgment and professionalism and succeeded in the capture of a high value target in the Kandahar province in Afghanistan. Under direct fire, Sergeant Jenkins performed courageously, rushing to close with, engage, and destroy the enemy's stronghold that was suppressing the team's movements. Without Sergeant Jenkins' decisive actions, the mission could not have been completed without further casualties.
Outstanding achievement while serving as Infantry Squad Leader, A. CO 4-6 IN, 3/1 ABCT. During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Staff Sergeant Goettle contributed to the effectiveness and success of Alpha Company 4-6 Infantry Regiment. Staff Sergeant Goettle was involved in several training events throughout this rotation including NET NEFF, Flying Badger, Gunnery, Warrior Strike and EIB. Throughout each event, Staff Sergeant Goettle never hesitated to lead from the front, which resulted in setting the standard for UGF Operations, that many units will adopt and put into practice during their rotations.
During this period, as Squad Leader, C Company 2/4 Inf, SGT Wayne N Harper reorganized 2nd Platoon's Long Range Marksmanship program which resulted in C Company's receiving the highest aggregate score in the division on the last LRMS qualifications. SGT Harper's leadership and sterling example raised his fire team's APFT average to 287 of 300 and boosted morale for the company overall. SGT Harper's fire team was the unit's top trainers and earned superior qualifications as well as ratings over the past two years. SGT Harper's commitment to excellence and dedication to duty are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division, and the U.S. Army.
Meritorious service while serving as Squad Leader, C CO, 2ND BATTALION, 23RD IN REGT. SGT Eidemiller displayed tireless devotion to the safety and well being of his Soldiers, and utilized composite risk management in all aspects of his team's day to day duties. SGT Eidemiller's diligence resulted in zero accidents during eleven months of combat operations while deployed to the Multi National Division area of operations.
SGT Haas's remarkable leadership abilities and skilled performance as 2nd Squad Leader, 2-142 Charlie Company, resulted in the Top Performance in Charlie Company's May 2014 Training at Camp Bowie. While fulfilling duties normally assigned to an E-6, SGT Hass's superior performance on STX Lane Evaluations resulted in excellent execution by all squad members in the completion of the squad attack, ambush, react to contact, and react to near ambush missions.
Sergeant Jones passed his APFT's with 290s, finishing in the top ten percent of the unit. In addition, he received an Exceeds Standards rating during the last command inspection. Further, he ran the ammunition point four months ago and was recognized for its efficient operation, from ammunition pick up, to operations, safety, and organization, by the battalion CSM.
As Assistant Squad Leader, HHC, 4-3 BSTB, 4 IBCT, 3 ID. SGT Upton's outstanding performance, skill, and leadership aided immeasurably in the retrograde process of Patrol Base, Pul-E-Alam. While succesfully managing his Squad, SGT Upton assisted in the building of the gym, water point, and the DFAC storage area. Additionally, SGT Upton played an instrumental role in the accomplishment of the Squad's mission by being the subject matter expert on the minehound. He taught and utilized the minehound in the field, enabling the Squad safe passage through one of the most heavely mined areas of operation in Afghanistan. His untiring efforts and Can Do attitude testify to his achievements and accolades as an outstanding Non-Commisioned Officer of the U.S. Army.
SSG Guthrie served as Squad Leader, A CO. 1-22 IN 1BCT 4ID and Was tasked to assist the company XO with the logistics of moving the company down to JRTC for the unit's pre deployment certification rotation. He, on numerous occasions, placed the needs of the Company to meet a strict timeline above his own by working well into the evening after others had gone home. In addition, he served as NCOIC of the Land Nav course, qualifying 23 of 25 Soldiers. Moreover, he deployed twice with the unit and has excelled in multiple duty positions and mentored several soldiers to expert level.
