During the 90th Sustainment Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Company Home Station Annual Training, SSG Johnson went above and beyond as the OIC of the Land Navigation Course. He exceeded training responsibilities by teaching engaging classes that enhanced 66 Soldiers' understanding of map reading, plotting points, and using a compass. His planning and execution of the land navigation course at Training Area 5 on Camp Joseph T. Robinson enabled five teams of Soldiers to successfully reach their assigned coordinate points. SSG Johnson's exceptional level of preparation and performance to teach Soldiers essential warrior tasks proves he is dedicated to mission readiness. He dedicated his time before and after duty hours to ensure the land navigation course was executed without flaws. No teams were lost during the exercise and all teams returned to the start point in a timely manner.
During TY23 Annual Training, SGT Jamison was the subject matter expert for land navigation. He instructed a company level land navigation course resulting in a 93% pass rate for the company.
SFC Soperton worked diligently with Officer Candidates, helping them master Land Navigation skills to provide them with the highest opportunity for success on the Day and Night Land Navigation examinations. In addition, he spent numerous hours preparing and developing quizzes and study materials on Map Reading and Training Management for his class, which resulted in a 100% pass rate for his class and the highest academic average.
During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Staff Sergeant Decosta contributed to the successful preparation of 131 Soldiers for deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. SSG Decosta's leadership, actions and personal example were key to the successful completiion of all Land Navigation, signaling, Battle Drills and all make-up training. His unselfish efforts resulted in Co. B, 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion reaching Mobilization station with the highest percentage of preparedness in the battalion.
Sergeant Gagnon's outstanding professional skill, knowledge, and leadership aided immeasurably in instructing the entire battalion with a Sincgars retransmission class and also in assisting his land navigation team to return safely and quickly during unit annual training.
SGT Haagen, having an expansive knowledge of Land Navigation, was chosen above his peers to be a guide and to help soldiers navigate when lost. SGT Haagen was also chosen to provided LMTV support for the Battalion Warrior Forge exercise. His main job was to transport soldiers safely there and back when the exercise was complete.
SGT Macauley demonstrated superb leadership skills by exceeding course standards while attending WLC Class 001. SGT Macauley received superior ratings on small group instruction, land navigation, and tactical proficiency. Her remarkable ability to execute several leadership roles during performance evaluations enabled her Squad and Platoon to complete "Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills" with a 100% "trained" rating. SGT Macauley focused not only on training but also on assisting classmates with meeting their goals.
When he first arrived on the island, SGT Ball participated in and completed the Special Forces Basic Combat Support Course. Participated in Army week, earning 58th Sig BN 2nd place in Land Navigation. Participated in the Join Exercise Yama Sakura, YS-57, supporting commands higher than G-6. Attempted to foster positive relations between USMC G-6 and 349th Signal Battallion. Cross Trained MARINES in inside plant operations.
Selflessly sacrificed his own time and energy to make sure not only his own team members but all service members were safe on the Land Navigation course, dutifuly working above his paygrade and responsibilities.
Spc Miano showed his ability to retain information by helping use his knowledge he gained at NCOES to help his peers with land navigation. During annual training, Spc Miano fostered an environment of esprit de corps with fellow junior enlisted by helping younger soldiers with army rules and regulations.

He taught professional military development classes to Pakistan Military Liaison Officers that included subject such as Land Navigation, Map Reading, Afghanistan Terrain Features, and Military Acronyms and Symbols. SSG Chapman also volunteered to help service members attending college with proper military and English writing.
SSG Smith was an instrumental asset to the 174th INF BDE NCO of the Quarter competition that took placed on 20 March 2013. With limited time and on short notice, SSG Smith devoted numerous off duty hours to plan, develop and implement a land Navigation course that would challenge the technical and tactical skills of the NCOs that were striving to succeed in the competition. His expertise and knowledge in land navigation were influential in creating both a day and a night land navigation course.
SGT Skellenger served as a Warrior Leader Course (WLC) Small Group Leader (SGL), Unit Prevention Leader (UPL), and Unit Victim Advocate (UVA) for the USA NCO Academy (NCOA), Fort Dix. She trained over 900 students in the areas of leadership, counseling, drill and ceremonies, land navigation, and physical fitness in both garrison and field environments graduating 97% of her students. Her untiring efforts and dedication to duty had a direct impact on the Fort Dix NCOA's FY 2010 TRADOC Accreditation with a 91% rating. SGT Skellenger performed her duties as a WLC SGL in the most effective manner. Her skills led to her United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA) instructor certification. She mentored peers and senior Non-Commissioned Officers in instructor techniques to ensure they were successful. She clearly demonstrated selfless service by stepping in to serve as the NCOA Retention NCO where she devoted her time and efforts to help over ten soldiers reenlist. SGT Skellenger's outstanding performance and dedication to duty was a major factor to the success of 2nd platoon class 1-2 of cycle 11-009. Her professional knowledge and dynamic leadership style enabled her class to set the highest overall grade point average (GPA) for WLC at over 98% and competed in the 11-009 Instructor of the Cycle (IOC) board. SGT Skellenger displayed tireless devotion to the safety and well being of her Soldier, and untilized composite risk management in all aspects of her squad's day to day WLC duties. SGT Skellenger's diligence and attention to detail resulted in zero accidents during 36 months of WLC cycles.
