MOS 154C, CH-47 Chinook Helicopter Pilot Awards

CW3 Romig served in the 82nd Airborne Division for 9 years of his Army career and due to his drive for realistic training and mentorship, was the epitome of the All-American Paratrooper. As a Warrant Officer, TACOPs Officer, and Maintenance Officer, he directly contributed to the success of countless missions reserved for the 82nd Airborne Division's sole heavy-lift asset including support for over 1,000 paradrops, 4 gun raids, and 10 maritime resupply missions while on a short notice Immediate Response Force deployment.

CW3 Romig held the positions of TACOPs Officer and Maintenance Officer for a cumulative period of six years while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He mentored hundreds of Soldiers during this span, while providing guidance and training to increase unit proficiency, resulting in countless promotions and awards. He leveraged his experience and technical and tactical knowledge to serve as an advisor for numerous Platoon Leaders and Commanders, which immediately improved his unit's performance in both garrison and combat environments.

CW3 Romig was the Aviation Mission Survivability Officer for the Flippers while deployed to Kuwait as a part of Task Force Saber with the IRF, during which time he helped the unit achieve interoperability between joint services. By coordinating with Naval forces, he facilitated deck landing qualification for all crews in the unit and produced the only paradrop aviation asset available in Kuwait. His leadership was essential for the tactical and technical discipline needed to accomplish the IRF mission.

CW3 Romig served honorably during his 20 years of military service. During his tenure, he served as an Infantryman, Infantry Platoon Sergeant, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Pilot in Command, Ch-47F Chinook Pilot in Command, Aviation Mission Survivability Officer, and Maintenance Officer. CW3 Romig demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and effective leadership during three overseas deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait.



EXCEPTIONALLY MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS A CH-47F PILOT. CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER THREE ROMIG'S REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE AND DEVOTION TO DUTY GREATLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE UNIT'S MISSION SUCCESS. HIS ACTIONS ARE IN KEEPING WITH THE FINEST TRADITIONS OF MILITARY SERVICE AND REFLECTS GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, THE 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION, AND THE UNITED STATES ARMY.
