MOS 15K, Aircraft Components Repair Supervisor Decorations

SFC Johnson has served with the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade for over three years. During his time with the 82nd Airborne Division, SFC Johnson has contributed to the success of 1-17TH HARS serving as the Component Repair Platoon Supervisor. His superb management of personnel and articulate logical approach to maintenance task distribution was instrumental in maintaining a high state of readiness during the Army's, and the 82nd CAB's first Modified Airframe Qualification Course.

While serving with 1-17TH HARS, SFC Johnson was a key leader during the Squadron's 2019 Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS). His meticulous review of records allowed his platoon to score an average of 90.5 percent in Ground Support Equipment, Armament and Electrical, Non-Destructive Inspection, and Hangar and Shop Operations sections. His exceptional efforts aided the Squadron to set the standard for the CAB during ARMS, and guaranteed success for the unit as IRF in 2020.

SFC Johnson served with distinction while assigned to 1-3RD ARB, Katterbach Germany, Ansbach Army Garrison from August 2014 through August 2017 with Task Force Viper the only AH-64D ARB unit in USAREUR. He effectively managed the Component Repair Platoon's maintenance teams to maintain aircraft readiness in order to sufficiently support the multitude of USAREUR operations across the Eastern European region. He was noted as a superior leader by inter-organizational military and civilian aviation leaders.




Meritorious service while serving as Dedicated Crew Chief and Support Shift Manager, 2d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 2d Maintenance Group, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. During this period, Staff Sergeant Wayne Nelson's professionalism, dedication, and tireless efforts contributed to the success of the Air Force's aviation program. He oversaw over 700 maintenance repair actions that enabled 160 aircrew students to fly over 500 sorties and achieve a remarkable 3,000 flying hours. In addition, Sergeant Nelson managed and supervised five personnel in all facets of support operations. He led the reorganization of the 2d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron's Support Section and assisted in standing up a new tool accountability system that increased tool availability by 30 percent. Futher, Sergeant Nelson's exhaustive efforts led to the 2d Bomb Wing receiving a "Satisfactory" rating and his selection as "Superior Performer" during the first ever Air Force Global Strike Command Combined Unit Inspection. Sergeant Nelson's dedication and devotion to duty is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 2d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the United States Air Force.




WHILE SERVING AS AIRCRAFT COMPONENT REPAIR CHIEF FOR 2D MARINE AIR WING (FWD), MARINE WING HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON TWO, AVIATION LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT, FLEET READINESS CENTER WESTERN PACIFIC, CAMP LEATHERNECK, AFGHANISTAN FROM SEPTEMBER 2012 TO SEPTEMBER 2013. CHIEF TAYLOR HORNSTEIN CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN A HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HE DISPLAYED EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGERIAL ACUMEN BY EFFECTIVELY UTILIZING SCARCE RESOURCES TO ACCOMPLISH ALL COMMAND MISSIONS. INSTRUMENTAL IN THE EXECUTION OF OVER 237 DEPOT LEVEL IN-SERVICE REPAIRS ON ROTARY AND FIXED WING AIRCRAFT, HIS FORESIGHT LED TO IMPROVED DETACHMENT WORK FLOW AND MINIMIZED MAJOR REPAIRS ON 17 PIECES OF ABANDONED GSE. IN ADDITION, HE SINGLE-HANDEDLY CREATED THE SHOP FLOOR LAY-OUT AND PLANNED, COORDINATED, AND EXECUTED THE MOVEMENT OF OVER 30 TONS OF EQUIPMENT WITHIN 24 HOURS TO A NEWLY ESTABLISHED FLIGHT LINE LOCATION. HIS EFFORTS LED TO THE CONTINUATION OF OPERATIONS WITH ZERO IMPACT ON AIRCRAFT REPAIRS AND PROVIDED DEPOT LEVEL TECHNICIANS WITH THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO ATTAIN AN UNMATCHED MILESTONE OF AN AVERAGE ISR TURNAROUND TIME OF 123 DAYS. SENIOR CHIEF HORNSTEIN'S PROFESSIONALISM, INITIATIVE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




Meritorious service while serving as Dedicated Crew Chief, Viper Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 57th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 57th Maintenace Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. During this period, Sergeant Holloway's exceptional maintenance skills were crucial in maintaining his assigned aircraft at over 95 percent mission capable rate for over nine months, surpassing Air Combat Command's standard by over 11 percent. His actions were vital to the Viper Aircraft Maintenance Unit winning "Unit of the Month" for February, March, and June of 2016. In addition, Sergeant Holloway was hand selected to lead a hydraulic-reservoir time change team. His vast system knowledge facilitated the time change completion on 13 aircraft three months ahead of schedule. Finally, Sergeant Holloway flawlessly managed the section's Special Purpose Recoverables Authorized Maintenance account, valued at over six million dollars. He inspected and coordinated all repair efforts on 78 equipment items, resulting in the section receiving zero findings during the 2016 Air Combat Command Headquarters' Unit Compliance Inspection. The distinctive accomplishemnts of Sergeant Holloway reflect great credit upon himself, the 57th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and the United States Air Force.
