1LT Lusk served on the 733d MP BN (CID) unit ministry team as a Chaplain Candidate since October 2021. In that time, he provided exceptional religious support to the battalion and its Soldiers.
1LT Lusk bonded with members of the unit of every rank, building a strong rapport with the Soldiers in order to be approachable for advice and counsel. He drew from his own academic expertise and religious tradition to plan and conduct religious services and conduct an engaging class on suicide prevention and resiliency.
1LT Lusk was an exemplary chaplain candidate and exceeded the expectations set by the chaplain candidate program. When CH (1LT) Veitia and CH (CPT) Paulson were assigned to the unit, he took the initiative to ensure they were aware of unit history and dynamics, thus enabling the UMT to function at peak capacity.
1LT Lusk excelled in the Chaplain Basic Officer Leadership Course, where he served as class leader and received the Emil J. Kapaun Award for Distinguished Leadership. Upon return to the 733d MP BN, 1LT Lusk implemented what he learned in CHBOLC to improve the operation of the UMT.
