1. Purpose. The purpose of this counseling is to clearly explain what I expect from you as a Squad Leader and how I see our cooperation in my platoon. I want us to work as a team and build a strong, disciplined squad that can perform under pressure in accordance with the Hungarian Defense Forces regulations.
2. Your responsibility. I expect you to enforce discipline every day, not only during missions or inspections. If standards are clear and consistent, everything else becomes easier. Your squad must be combat ready and ready to receive missions. Battle drills, weapons handling, and movement techniques must be trained until they are automatic. The minimum standard is not enough. During any operation, preparation is critical. I expect you to conduct thorough and realistic PCCs/PCIs so that I can always trust the accuracy and reliability of your report. You are responsible for 100% accountability of your Soldiers and equipment. Maintenance must be done properly. Under all circumstances, be able to account for the personnel, equipment, and weapons within your squad. Communication between us must be honest and direct. If there is a problem, I want to know early. Bring solutions, not only issues.
3. My responsibility. From my side, I will give you clear intent and guidance. I will support you when you enforce standards. I will give you feedback each week and help you develop as a leader. If you act within my intent and Army standards, I will stand behind you.
4. Closing. My goal is to build a platoon that others look at as an example. Discipline, competence, and teamwork will define us. So I expect ownership and professionalism from your squad at all times. You can also expect commitment and support from me. I plan to lead the platoon based on the principles of Mission Command (ADP 6-22, Army Leadership and the Profession). When the situation allows, I will give you the freedom to act within my intent.
