Monthly Soldier Counseling Statement Example

Accountability & Responsibility: This month you were on leave. You had several hiccups when it comes to being responsible. On you way back to Gaziantep from leave you had an issue in which your red Gaziantep pass was not on your person. This caused a delay in you getting back to work. You informed me that it was in your bag and that a few of your bags were temporarily misplaced. You also had issues with leave and getting back like the command expected you to. Your leave ended several days before you arrived back. That is not acceptable and you will be held accountable for your actions.

Physical Fitness: Your current state of physical fitness is not bad at all. You must continue taking time out and going to work out on your own. Our mission requirements will continuously have you out of PT several days of the week but as I always say; you are expected to remain in shape and able to pass your APFT and meet height and weight standards at all times.

Duty Performance: Remember that initiative is a big deal when working in a position like yours. I understand that in some instances it is harder to get back in the groove of things. However, you should be resilient, meaning that now you are back from leave you jump back into working like you never left. I want you to realize that as time goes on, more will be expected out of you as you are growing more and learning more in your job. Be cognizant of your lunch breaks. At times you take more time than expected. This will not be accepted. If you continue to show that you can not be responsible with the time given to you then you will be allotted less time.

Promotion: You still have some growing to do as a soldier and as a 42A/human resource specialist before you will be recommended for the promotion board. You should show more potential and gumption. This means that you have to push yourself to work hard and show that you are not just ready to perform at the next level, but ready and willing. When your chain of command (meaning the rest of your supervisors and I) see that you are ready and showing your full potential, that is when you will be considered for the promotion board.

Self-Development: You have been working with SFC Davis and I trying to get enrolled in college classes. However, there are other ways to develop and educate yourself. You can also take correspondence courses and structured self development on AKO.

Upcoming Events: We have a new NCOIC inbound. He will be letting you know his expectations and how he wants things done. To make things go smoother you should work your hardest to show him that you are a responsible and dependable soldier who will soon be ready for the next level. SSG G will be leaving soon but the standards and expectations of you will to leave so continue to perform at optimum levels if not higher. 1SG has put out that there will be a 100% weigh in with a time line TBD. So be ready and make sure you maintain a body composition that is within the standards of AR 600-9.
