NCO Initial Counseling Example

1. Expectations:
- I expect you to help create a culture that prioritizes safety and accountability of both soldiers and equipment.
- Maintain open communication with me about the platoon's needs and any challenges we may face.
- Develop the soldiers and their tactical and technical skills.
- Maintain full accountability of all personnel, equipment, and medical readiness.
- Lead by example in all areas: physical fitness, discipline, military bearing, and professional development.

2. Responsibilities:
- Support soldier development via monthly counseling, recognition, and corrective training.
- Supervise daily operations of platoon to include training, tasking and sustainment operations.
- Ensure all soldiers can operate and understand how to use their assigned medical equipment.
- Responsible for daily operations, equipment maintenance and administrative tasks.
- Track medical readiness and ensure Soldiers attend all required appointments and meet individual medical requirments.

3. Soldier Care and Development:
- Know your soldiers on a personal and professional level; ensure they are physically, mentally and emotionally fit.
- Foster a climate of respect, professionalism, and inclusion.
- Uphold Army SHARP, EO, and safety policies without any exception.

4.Goals for Next 90 days:
- Identify and recommend at least 4 soldiers for award, promotion, or special schools (EFMB, Ranger, Air Assault, etc.)
- Ensure all junior NCOs receive developmental counseling (formal).
- Conduct platoon level - TCCC validation event.
- Achieve and maintain 90% or higher medical readiness across the platoon.
