MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Troop Policy Letter #3 (ACFT Incentive and Special Population Physical Readiness Training Program)
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to establish procedures and guidance for all Soldiers of this command regarding the Troop APFT Incentive and Special Population PRT programs.
2. Physical fitness is a critical aspect of training and readiness. Each Soldier's level of physical fitness directly impacts the readiness of the unit. Physical fitness is a shared responsibility to stay physically fit and to maintain Army height/weight standards. It is the unit commander's responsibility to provide challenging, physically tough, and a combat focused PRT program that promotes maximum physical conditioning and readiness. Maintenance is prohibited during PT hours for all sections and platoons unless an exemption is approved by the Troop Commander at least 24 hours in advance.
3. The Army's physical fitness test is the ACFT and the minimum standard to score in each of the six events is 60 to pass. My goal is for each Soldier to score at least 80 points in each event with an overall score of 450 and above on the ACFT.
4. Effective the date of this policy letter Soldiers who score above 540 on the record ACFT will be exempt from organized PT except for the first duty day of the week and any Troop or higher headquarters physical fitness events. This provision is valid only for Soldiers who have a current ACFT card within six months and take a Diagnostic APFT once a quarter. Any Soldier who fails to maintain 540 or above on any Record or Diagnostice ACFTs, or no longer has a valid ACFT within six months will no longer fall under this provision.
5. To inspire achievement on the ACFT, the following incentives will be implemented:
a. Any Soldier who scores 600 on their first record ACFT will be recommended for the Army Achievement Medal.
b. Anytime a Soldier scores 540 (90 points each event) or above on three Ts that Soldier will receive a three day pass.
c. Any Soldier that improves their ACFT score by 45 or more points from one record ACFT to the next, will be rewarded with a Certificate of Achievement with the potential for a three day pass at the commander's discretion.
6. The unit will conduct a special conditioning PRT program for Soldiers who fail to maintain the standards.
7. A copy of this policy will be permanently posted on the unit bulletin board. Leaders will ensure all Soldiers are briefed on the provisions and conditions of this policy.
