Exception to Policy Request
Subsistence-in-Kind (SIK)

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to respectfully request consideration for an Exception to Policy (ETP) to exceed SIK for January BA from $14.80 by $3.55 to $18.35 below the maximum threshold of $18.50. During January's BA, we will work to identify a location that is closer in range to the peridium rate of $14.80.

This request comes after a series of personal and administrative challenges that affected Detachment 7's ability to submit SIK documentation at or below the current peridium rate of $14.80. The two month Government shut downs and Christmas and New Year Holidays impacted the unit's ability to do additional due diligence for getting estimates from multiple vendors.

To compound the situation, Detachment 7's S4 had an accident over the holiday break and broke her leg. She is now stuck on the West Coast until she has had surgery and enough recovery time to travel back east.

I respectfully ask for your support in granting an ETP so that I can feed Detachment 7's NCOs and continue our momentum to build on our Readiness numbers during January's BA rather than the focus be on not being fed.

I understand the importance of respecting timelines and procedures and I assure you that, going forward, I will be diligent in submitting all SIK requests in a timely manner. I am deeply motivated to succeed and to represent the Army Reserve with integrity, discipline, and purpose.

Thank you for your time, understanding, and consideration of my request.
