**MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD**
**SUBJECT:** Statement of Support for PFC [Full Name] Gay
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to affirm that Private First Class (PFC) Gay has demonstrated maturity, reliability, and professional growth under current leadership and there is no indication he will repeat previous financial mistakes.
2. In the past, PFC Gay accumulated significant debt, approximately $32,000 to $40,000, due to financial abuse by a former spouse. Since then, he has shown consistent responsibility, personal accountability, and financial awareness.
3. PFC Gay is one of the most motivated and dependable soldiers in his section. He has taken the lead in maintaining the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, notably keeping it fully mission-capable at NTC when others deemed it non-recoverable. His technical skill, initiative, and perseverance directly supported unit readiness.
4. Beyond his MOS, he mentors new soldiers, including those from other platoons, and routinely volunteers for additional duties. His positive attitude and leadership-by-example have significantly improved team morale and productivity.
5. After recovering from a serious motorcycle accident and receiving a medical discharge, PFC Gay willingly left a high-paying civilian job to reenlist in the Army, driven by a genuine passion for service. He has since met or exceeded all physical standards and performs well on the ACFT.
6. PFC Gay now maintains a stable personal life and is taking proactive steps to improve his financial literacy. He has no history of misconduct and has been recommended for an Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) for his exceptional performance at NTC.
7. Based on his conduct, character, and contributions to the unit, I am confident PFC Gay will not repeat past financial decisions and remains a valued asset to this organization.
