Armor Senior Sergeant
Duty Descriptions

Battalion Master Gunner
Serves as an M1A2 Battalion Master gunner, responsible for resourcing training facilities, ammunition and advises the Battlion Commander on his tank gunnery training program. Responsible for the maintenance and accountability of one (1) M1A2 SEP tank, one (1) HMMWV and all anciliary equipment valued in excess of 10 million dollars; directly responsible for the welfare, safety, discipline and leadership counseling of two Soldiers and their families.


Platoon Sergeant
Serves as a Platoon Sergeant in the only heavy Armored Cavalry Regiment in the US Army responsible for the health, welfare, and professional development of 16 NCO's and enlisted Soldiers in preparation for combat operations; serves as the primary advisor to the Platoon Leader on all enlisted issues and makes critical decisions in his absence; plans, coordinates, and supervises activities pertaining to critical organizational training, combat operations, and combat intelligence edits and prepares tactical operations plans and orders.


19K40 M-1 Abrahms PSG
Performs duties as a tank PSG. Assists in planning, organization, direction, training, supervision, coordination, and reporting activities of tank platoon or staff section. Supervises platoon maintenance activities. Directs distribution of fire and assigns fields of fire. Collects, evaluates, and assists in interpretation and dissemination of combat information. Directs platoon tactical movement. Directs movement to contact, hasty attack, and defense at platoon level. Coordinates platoon resupply operations. Supervises the employment of OPSEC measures. Coordinates the evacuation of casualties.


19K40R4 MGS Platoon Sergeant
Mobile Gun System Platoon Sergeant assigned to a Stryker Battalion Combat Team; responsible for the welfare, development, and training of 12 crew members; assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of all individual and collective training in preparation for rapid real world deployments; assist in the tactical employment of platoon's assigned weapons systems and personnel; enforces quality control over the maintenance and accountability of assigned vehicles, weapons, and equipment valued at 8 million dollars.


19Z First Sergeant
Serves as a senior military manager responsible for the battalion's readiness; serves as a subject matter expert on Security Force Assistance organization, equipment, tactics, doctrine, and training product development; creates and revises training materials by performing instructional design, development, validation, and evaluation based on criteria using the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) process and methods documented in training, education, and training technology publications.






MOS 19Z - Armor Senior Sergeant

Major Duties. The armor senior sergeant serves as principal NCO in an armor company, cavalry troop, or operations staff in a combined arms battalion, cavalry squadron, or higher level organization. Duties for MOS 19K at each level of skill are as follows:

MOSC 19Z50. Performs duties as a company or troop First Sergeant; executes and supervises routine operations; enforces tactical SOPs, plans and coordinates training, coordinates and reports on personnel and administrative actions; supervises supply, maintenance, communications, and field hygiene operations; supervises, inspects, and observes all matters designated by the commander; assists in the preparation of the OPORD, especially paragraph 4 (sustainment); plans, rehearses, and supervises key sustainment actions in support of the tactical mission such as resupply of Class I, III, and V products and materials, maintenance and recovery, medical treatment and evacuation, and replacement or return-to-duty (RTD) processing; assists and coordinates with the XO in all critical sustainment functions; serves as quartering party NCO in charge (NCOIC); conducts training and ensures proficiency in individual and NCO skills and small-unit collective skills that support the troop's mission-essential task list; establishes and maintains the foundation of troop discipline.

MOSC 19Z60. Performs duties as a battalion or higher level Command Sergeant Major; provides the commander with personal, professional, and technical advice on enlisted Soldier matters and the NCO Corps; focuses on Soldier welfare and individual training; acts as the commander's representative while supervising operations; controls movement through a breach in a critical obstacle or at a river crossing; coordinates a passage of lines or quarter assembly areas; conducts sustainment planning for casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) rehearsals and operations; establishes logistical release points (LRPs), casualty collection points, maintenance collection points, and ambulance exchange points (AXPs); serves as advocate, mentor, and role model for every Soldier in the battalion; carries out policies and enforces standards for the performance, training, and conduct of enlisted Soldiers; assesses the morale of the force and assists during critical events.
