Battery Master Gunner
Serves as the Battery Master Gunner for the only Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Artillery Battery defending the Korean peninsula; responsible for the creation of test material, documentation, certifications, qualifications, training, and evaluation of 18 Avenger crews; responsible for the health, morale, welfare, discipline, safety, training, and professional growth of 36 Soldiers and four Korean Augmentees; responsible for the readiness, logistics, maintenance, and accountability of all Master Gunner related equipment valued in excess of $1,000,000.
Avenger Squad Leader
Serves as an Avenger Squad Leader for the Army's only Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Artillery Battery defending the Korean peninsula, assigned to Echo Battery 6th Battalion; participates in Operation Task Force Defender, providing Security Force Protection as well as short range air defense coverage against threats and unmanned aerial surveillance; trains and evaluates crews on Air and Missile defense certifications; responsible for the health, morale, welfare, discipline, safety, training, and professional growth of five Soldiers; responsible for the accountability and maintenance of three Avenger Weapon Systems valued in excess of $5,000,000.
Air Defense Crew Member
Serves as a Platoon Sergeant for a Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM) Platoon, assigned to Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade; responsible for the health, welfare, discipline, safety, training and professional growth of eight NCOs and 20 Soldiers; responsible for ensuring the accountability and maintenance of two Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS), an Engagement Operations Center, two Lightweight Counter Mortar Radars (LCMR), and other early warning systems and equipment valued in excess of $30,000,000.
MOS 14S - Avenger Crewmember (USAR/NG only)
Major Duties. The Avenger Crewmember supervises, operates, or serves as a member of a lightweight, highly mobile, air defense weapons systems. Duties for MOS 14S at each level of skill are:
MOSC 14S10. Prepares, operates and fires the Avenger weapon systems; performs Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) degraded operations as required while assigned to the Avenger System; establishes and maintains radio and wire communications; assists in maintaining situation map; performs target engagement evaluation; applies infrared (IR) techniques to detect and engage targets; operates identification, friend or foe (IFF) programmer/charger; resupplies ammunition and prepares systems for firing; performs emergency procedures for weapon systems; maintains sight alignment on systems; operates and maintains system carriers.
MOSC 14S20. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises and assists the preparation and firing of the Avenger weapon systems; collects and consolidates intelligence information; processes special and periodic reports; prepares and maintains situation map; transmits intelligence and grid locations of incoming targets; designates fighting positions; transmits alert status and readiness changes over secured network; receives air early warning and tracks incoming targets over the Handheld Terminal Unit (HTU) or the Pony Portable Computer Unit (PCU).
MOSC 14S30. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises the Avenger team/squad; prepares for and supervises section movement; supervises radio and wire communications; plans for and supervises ammunition resupply; deploys section to provide air defense coverage; assists in establishing operating tactical command posts and operating centers; coordinates operations and intelligence data; supervises dissemination of air and ground early warning information to subordinate fire units over the HTU or the Pony PCU; assists update of Operation Order (OPORD), situation maps and overlays; supervises installation and operations of tactical communication equipment and battle drills; employs weapon systems; supervises Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS).
MOSC 14S40. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises Avenger platoon operations; performs or supervises ADA operations and intelligence duties; assists platoon leader in planning, management and training activities of subordinate sections; performs and supervises ADA battle management center operations; conducts platoon reconnaissance, selection and occupation of position (RSOP); coordinates platoon and section logistical activities.
