Purpose of Counseling
Event-oriented: Domestic violence incident, Patch Barracks, 15 May 2020
Reference: DoD Instruction 6400.06, Domestic Abuse Involving DoD Military and Certain Affiliated Personnel, AR 608-18, The Army Family Advocacy Program (FAP), AR 600-20, Army Command Policy
Key Points of Discussion
On 15 May 2020, around 2100, your neighbor called the First Sergeant and reported that your wife had taken refuge in her quarters because she claimed you had assaulted her repeatedly with a stun gun. Domestic violence is incompatible with Army values and will not be tolerated or condoned.
The Commander has ordered that, as a precautionary measure, you will move into the barracks, effective immediately. The barracks will become your daily residence until this issue has been investigated and resolved. While living in the barracks, you must comply with established barracks rules (curfew is 2300) and continue to report for duty as scheduled. You may travel freely except for the following restrictions:
You may not visit your assigned living quarters. If you need toiletries, clothes, etc, provide a list and I will obtain the items you need.
You may not contact or speak with your wife until further notice.
In addition, you must refrain from any action or conduct that may be perceived as domestic violence. This includes emotional or physical abuse or any action that might provoke or cause a domestic violence incident. Any further incidents will severely impact your career and increase the liklihood of punishment under the UCMJ.
This order is indefinite and will remain in effect until you, your wife, and a certified counseler come to a mutually acceptable agreement. This action is private and no one without a need to know will have access to this information.
Plan of Action
You will be escorted to your living quarters where you can retrieve the items you require to move into the barracks.
Your wife has been referred to ACS for support.
I will schedule appointments for you with the First Sergeant and the Law Center.
Report to Army Community Service at 0900, Monday, 18 May, in Building 2915, Panzer Kaserne.
Follow the directions listed above. If you need counseling or any kind of support, I will help arrange it. My cell phone number is 49-XXXX-XXXXXX.
I called the barracks manager and will meet you at bldg XXXX, the barracks closest to the chow hall at 2300.
I will consult with the First Sergeant and the Law Center to determine the appropriate course of action. I will do my best to support both parties.
