19C Dismount/Gunner

SPC Smith served as a Dismount at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California. He and his dismounted team established multiple observation posts in rough, mountainous terrain, concealing himself from the enemy. SPC Smith identified and reported two armored personnel carriers and a section of tanks, all while utilizing reconnaissance. He lead his team up and down the slopes of NTC, maintained his equipment and accountability of his squad's equipment, and reported information accurately to his squad leader.

SPC Smith went to the National Training Center in Ft Irwin, CA in 2020 where he served as a Gunner on a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He identified and quickly reported several rapidly advancing enemy platoons as well as one enemy aircraft. SPC Smith's crew was one of only three Bradley Fighting Vehicles that were consistently in the fight during all live fire exercise at NTC due to diligently assisting his Driver and Bradley Commander with the maintenance of his vehicle and weapon system at all times.

SPC Gus deployed to INDOPACOM to support the Republic of South Korea (ROK) from 2021-2022 under the same mission to occupy and defend South Korea against invasion. He engaged in Combined Training Exercises (CTX) with the South Korean coalition army. SPC Gus spent this time teaching Army Doctrine to the South Korean counterparts for two weeks. He was considered a inexhaustible asset to ____ Company due to his exemplary attitude and character.

SPC Gus deployed to INDOPACOM as a Bradley driver to help support the Republic of Korea (ROK) from 2021-2022. He worked after hours consistently to ensure his Bradley Fighting Vehicle was ready for any Emergency Deployment Exercises (EDRE). SPC Gus was recognized for having the best maintained Bradley in 3rd Brigade. On his own initiative, SPC Gus trained soldiers on how to maintain all their equipment, as well as themselves without being advised to do so.

SPC Gus completed Combat Life Saver Course with a 100% pass rate. He demonstrated professional knowledge, willingness to accept responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt himself to any assignment or situation. SPC Gus was able to return to the troop and train others within his platoon on being medically effective in a combat environment. He constantly showed initiative and eagerness to learn and teach classes to his peers on the scout platoon handbook, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and Dismounted operations.

While serving in (UNIT NAME), SPC Gus participated in three situational training exercises (STX), four field training exercises (FTX), one live fire gunnery, a rotation at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, CA, and a deployment rotation to Korea. As a Dismount and a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Driver during these exercises and rotations, SPC Gus's skills and confidence played a vital role in helping to train and lead other soldiers on their basic scout skills.
