Member, Technical Services Maintenance Division

Defense Media Activity, Fort Meade, Maryland, from 01 February 2014 to 30 June 2016. During this period, Staff Sergeant Nalini was an integral member of Technical Services Maintenance Division which oversaw 186 broadcast events and administered the 90-channel cable television system that serves 600 employees while fulfilling the Defense Media Activity's support obligations to the National Science Foundation's Antarctic Program. To meet these requirements, she established a combined training program spanning three work centers, enabling the cross utilization of all assigned technicians. She shared her professional experience by training three broadcast technicians on satellite signal acquisition while fostering partnerships with civilian contractors. Staff Sergeant Nalini engineered the acquisition and installation of two audio, video, and satellite connection panels that provided additional connections for signal reception, distribution, and transmission. In addition, she demonstrated a productive and knowledgeable stewardship of Federal resources by overseeing the reutilization of 800 pieces of telecommunications and broadcasting equipment in two satellite production vehicles and various Defense Media Activity audio-visual subsystems, saving the Department of Defense approximately 1.2 million dollars in repair or replacement costs.


Visual Information/Radio and Television Systems Project Engineer

Master Sergeant Sheila R. Rojas, United States Army, distinguished herself by exceptionally meritorious service as Visual Information/Radio and Television Systems Project Engineer, Television-Audio Visual Support Activity, Defense Media Activity, Riverside, California, from 15 July 2014 to 15 June 2017. Deploying over 90 days CONUS and OCONUS, she was responsible for the completion of 13 major projects in which she ensured proper personnel assignment based on skill and experience and provided superb technical support to more than 20 commands, Department of Defense organizations, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Sergeant Rojas was handpicked by the Director of Television Audio Support Activity to lead the coordination and installation of 24 radio studios and nine technical control rooms for the American Forces Network in nine countries. She installed a cable system to provide 11 American Forces Network channels to service members at a remote Romanian location supporting a critical air defense mission. Sergeant Rojas maintained accountability of over 5 million dollars worth of electronic, audio visual, and broadcast equipment, without damage or loss. In addition, she was responsible for all service members assigned to Television-Audio Visual Support Activity getting certified on fiber optics, advanced tower training, and amateur radio. Further, she coordinated, acquired, and shipped equipment in excess of 100,000 dollars to Liberia which provided entertainment and data services for 4,500 service members directly supporting Operation United Assistance to combat the Ebola outbreak. Lastly, Sergeant Rojas led her team with an unsurpassed commitment to their personal welfare and professional development which facilitated the 100 percent completion of all missions during her tenure.


Public Affairs Planner

Meritorious service as Public Affairs Planner from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. As Public Affairs Planner, he stepped up to lead the Joint Task Force Civil Support public affairs directorate on numerous occasions during his Operation NOBLE EAGLE deployment, and among his accomplishments helped motivate a joint public affairs staff in achieving an "Excellent" in Records Management. He created and presented a new topic for the National Operations Security community's largest annual conference. Recognized by Interagency OPSEC Support Staff as a "Benchmark", the topic became a permanent part of conference curriculum. Handpicked by Fourth Air Force, he flawlessly executed multiple tasks in support of high profile Air Force Week events to include expert coordination of media in the nation's second largest news market. The distinctive accomplishments of Master Sergeant Kehoe reflect credit upon himself, the 214th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment and the United States Army.


Public Affairs Officer

Captain Chris T. Allen distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as a Public Affairs Officer, 87th Air Base Wing, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. During this period, the leadership and tireless efforts of Captain Allen resulted in major contributions to the effectiveness and success of the Wing Public Affairs program, including the wing earning Air Mobility Command's "Best Wing Communication Program" and "Public Affairs Communication Effectiveness" awards for 2012. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Captain Allen reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.


Public Affairs Officer

For exceptionally meritorious achievement while serving as the Public Affairs Officer for Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA). Captain Honalulu's dedication to duty, technical expertise, and attention to detail resulted in award winning products and increased communications and awareness across the organization. His diligent mentorship and tutelage of the Public Affairs section inspired the development and dissemination of twelve hundred informational products in support of Operation XXXXXXX and XXXXXX. In addition, his confidence and professionalism directly contributed to the incremental improvement, productivity, and capability of the Activity's Inform and Dissemination operations. Captain Honalulu's superb performance reflects great credit upon himself, Crane Army Ammunition Activity, the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command and the United States Army.


Public Affairs NCOIC

Meritorious service as Public Affairs NCOIC from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXXX. His superior skills and knowledge as the Public Affairs NCOIC garnered an outstanding rating during the Operation Readiness Inspection by creating and executing a high quality training plan for the Public Affairs Office to utilize in preparation for their pending deployment. In addition, his tireless efforts and motivational leadership helped transform an outdated file plan from Multimedia to Public Affairs for the 2014 Unit Compliance Inspection, by utilizing high quality photo and video imagery he helped develop a state of the art file plan which directly resulted in the Public Affairs Office receiving a grade of excellent. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Sims reflect credit upon himself, the 214th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment and the United States Army.


Deputy Chief of Public Affairs

Captain Dennis M. Cateland distinguished himself by meritorious service while assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy. During this period, Captain Cateland performed his duties in an outstanding manner enabling a robust community relations program, social media outreach, coordinated crisis response and multimedia coverage of wing operations. As the Deputy Chief of Public Affairs, he confidently led operations during the Public Affairs chief's seven-month deployment and was key to the office earning two Air Force and 14 major command awards. Captain Cateland oversaw the office merger of public affairs and multimedia personnel under one roof creating cross utilization and streamlining daily operations with minimum manning. Captain distinguished himself amongst his peers by graduating from the Air and Space Basic Course as a top performer and earning distinguished graduate at the Defense Information School Public Affairs course. While serving as the Public Affairs Officer at Medical Central and Eastern Europe Exercise 2009 held in Serbia, he led a joint team of seven to provide international coverage of fifteen countries. Finally, while serving as the Berlin Air Show United States Contingent Public Affairs Officer, he arranged 30 international media events while releasing eight articles and 550 images. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Captain Cateland reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.


Public Affairs Operations NCO

Meritorious service as Public Affairs Operations NCO from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXXX. Staff Sergeant Elliott's leadership and technical expertise vastly improved and expanded the existing social media program, contributed to more than 100 published photos, 20 news releases and 5 media engagements, enhancing command information dissemination and media relations. Sergeant Elliott's performance reflect great credit upon himself, the 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, III Corps, and the United States Army.


Webmaster

Meritorious service as Webmaster in support of 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Divison, from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX. During this period, Sergeant Wayne C. Sill logged over 20,000 miles capturing training events, working at the Joint Visitors Bureau, and acting as squad leader for a team of Combat Camera Soldiers attached to 2/1 ABCT. Due to Sergeant Sill's mastery of C++, Java, and HTML, he created the first cross platform brigade app in the entire division. The Iron Brigade app is used by 10,000 people in 12 countries, allowing the Brigade HQ to keep Soldiers and their families informed. Acting as an interim Public Affairs NCO, Sergeant Sill produced more than 6,000 photos, 16 print articles, and two memorial videos, which were published on many platforms including the FORSCOM Newspaper. In addition, his documentation of 2/1 ABCT in the field increased facebook traffic by 50 percent. Sergeant Sill's diligent performance and loyal devotion to duty brings great credit upon himself, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Divison and the United States Army.


Aerial Photographer

Staff Sergeant Carl P. Wyman distinguished himself by meritorious service as an Aerial Photographer, 40th Flight Test Squadron, 46th Operations Group, 46th Test Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. During this period, Sergeant Wyman's tireless work ethic and leadership contributed immeasurably to the successful testing of several "Firsts" including the inaugural drop of a Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile from a B-1B Lancer and an AIM-120D air-to-air missile launched from an F-15. His photo and high-speed film documentation and data were instrumental in the advancement of vital weapon systems in the Air Force's arsenal. Furthermore, Sergeant Wyman single-handedly supported six concurrent test programs during a 50 percent manning shortfall ensuring zero lost sorties while saving 250 thousand dollars in program costs. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Wyman reflect great credit upon himself, the 46th Test Wing, and the United States Air Force.
